Subject:   Can you clean a catalytic converter?

Hey All, Bought a used catalytic converter with 90,000 miles on it. It's not clogged but there is a good bit of carbon buildup on the comb inside... before i slap it on my van .. i wanted to know.. can you clean the inside with something like carb cleaner to remove any build up? Anyone have any experience on this? thanks everyone, jesse 89 carat
