Subject: Idle Stabilizer Stability (2 Parts)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

For an '87 2.1 WBX:

Part 1: My van had started to die after starting from cold recently. It would start right up and idle okay, but die at the first stop sign 250 feet away. I had bought an idle stabilizer control unit on Ebay, so I put it on. Now I notice a difference. It does seem to work okay, but the idle seems to be right under 1000, and pulsing up and down a couple of hundred RPM, maybe twice per second.

I am wondering if this might be a difference in how the controllers work from different years, or if my "new" one has a different kind of problem.

Part 2: Does anybody repair and test these things? I'd rather have mine repaired than just keep buying unknowns from used vans.

Thanks,

Tom Salicos '87 Westy Syncro
