Just a note.  Verner (excellent mechanic here in Boulder with
lots of Vanagon experience) commented to me, when my control
unit was bad, that all the original units fail but none of
the replacement units do.  ETKA shows 251 907 393 D as the
part number; I don't know what revision the original was.
