Hi Chuck,

For a road trip, the four most popular include: Dialup WIFI Cellular Satellite

At the low end, simply find a RJ11 phone jack (available at nearly all motel/hotels) and dial out to the internet just like you can at home. Its slow, but its cheap.

I take my laptop that has a wireless WIFI network card installed with me on all road trips. Its great to pull over to any Starbucks and have a cup of coffee while checking my email and to do some browsing. Many hotels now offer WIFI internet access as well. Also there is a gismo available for about 25 bucks that can detect other WIFI networks as you drive through them... WiFI is very fast and is quickly becoming a popular internet access method. www.therobotstore.com

Or you can get a Cellular connection by signing up for cellular modem service via your cell phone carrier. They will equip you with a modem so you can use your laptop. Its slower than WIFI and can be expensive, but its also very accessible, you only need a cell phone signal.

If you want to get fancy, there is the Sat dish set up where you can watch movies and have an internet access point right there in your Westy just like the larger motor homes have now. Check Direct or the Dish network. If you already have the dish, consider taking it with you (along with a tripod) and simply sign up for the internet service. Its super great but somewhat expensive and you will need a good inverter to manage the 110vac requirements.

Happy wanderlust!

Vince
