I'll be hornswoggled. Mellow Yellow has had that famous lifter clatter ever since we got it. This would occur after it had not been driven for a week or so. Nothing much to worry about, I read, but still . . . So three weeks ago I gave it an oil change, to 20W50 oil, and replaced the Brand X filter with a good Mahle one, per the recommendations. There are other recommended filters, too. The vanagon had to sit for a couple of weeks. This morning I started her up for a small trip - and no clatter. None. As soon as I find my swoggling horn, I'm gonna blow a couple of toots. It's always nice when something works as advertised. -- -- Mike "Rocket J Squirrel" Elliott 71 Type 2: the Wonderbus 84 Westphalia: "Mellow Yellow (The Electrical Banana)" KG6RCR |
