Dial or pointer torque wrenches are required because with VW boxer engines the capnuts will continue to move some after the wrench reaches the specified torque. After you reach the specified torque, hold it for a few seconds before letting up. A break type will not allow this to happen and you will not have the proper or even torque among the nuts.
