Not true. We stop at the cinnamon roll place nearly every time we go through Pismo. These are the same great rolls sold at the county fairs.

I also recommend Limekiln State Park which is a good hour south of Monterey on Highway 1. Just north of the park is a wide spot in the road with a good restaurant overlooking miles of rugged coastline.

Other restaurants that stand out are Anderson's Split Pea Soup in Buellton and the Cliff House about 10 miles north of Ventura in Mussel Shoals - a great place to watch the sun set.
