Two must-see places, besides the ones already mentioned: Point Lobos State Preserve, just south of Carmel, is beautiful with trails through the woods and along the ocean, tide pools, etc. Edward and Brett Weston hung out here for a reason! The second place is Año Nuevo, north of Santa Cruz – where you can hike out to the beach and watch the elephant seals cavort. OK, well, maybe not cavort, most likely they’ll just lumber about. Enjoy!
