Sam,

Sounds very familiar... in my case, there was a bad splice in the wiring.

You should be able to verify the wiring by pulling the wires off the switch and jumping them together. If you don't get lights, then there's a wiring problem somewhere... if you do, then whatever parts in the tranny are supposed to activate the switch aren't doing it (and fixing it is outside my experience).

My money is on the wiring... of course, you could have two burned out bulbs, never overlook the obvious! :-)
