Since 1998, I replaced the gearbox twice. All three (the first one counted in) had over 180.000km when I they were bolted onto the V6. I guess, theyīd have gone defective anyway, the V6 was not the main reason. All in all, the 5speed stands the torque quite well if you donīt do burn outs at every stop light... After me and a friend built our V6 mid-engine DoubleCab with tiptronik, I definitely DONīT want to manually shift anymore. So I will use the Audi automatic in my own Vanagon, too, and reverse its direction with a specially built gearing. Raimund |
