Came across these couple of gadgets recently:

First, a seemingly improved version of the micro bike light I have been using in my van (attached to pop top cross bar, see here on my site for a pic http://www.members.shaw.ca/albell/mods7.html). This newer one may well be brighter (no personal experience though)

The other idea is this cheap strap that will allow a small maglight (or the like) to be attached to aforementioned pop top bar:

Looks like a simple neoprene strap, probably easily made at home.
