The large wire goes directly to the starter. The red/white wires go to the fuse box. For larger lighting loads, the wiring from the alternator should be upgraded. While running, the alternator is the real source of power, not the battery. A separate ground to the alternator can also help. At full load, I have measured as much as .75 volt loss across the engine case. Where the alternator is mounted, the current it produces has to travel through the case studs and/or head seals, and exhaust to make it to the original ground straps. Can we say electrolysis?

Can anyone tell me from memory the routing of the big + wire that comes off the battery? I want to put in some lights and feed them directly from the battery through a small gauge (big diameter) fused wire.

Thanks!
