Sierge, from Canada has done this. I saw his version (very nice job) at Syncro Safari at Molas Lake, above Silverton a few months back. Almost exactly as you describe. The only cosmetic "glitch", if you want to call it that, is that because of the swing down, part of the molding has to be removed and when it's in the up and closed position, there is a little gap. The efficiency of not having to open the entire door and lose the chill certainly outweighs this small detail.
