2500kg (aprox 5500lbs) is the maximum weight a Vanagon can weigh. This is 1200kg on the front wheels and 1300kg on the rear wheels. At least it is like this in Canada and in Germany. The exception to this would be some Syncros in Germany. My camper is 2.81t according to the papers I got with it. Canada only recognizes it at 2.5t - I don't think anyone really cares as I load the camper over 2.5t on a regular basis. Water, food, wife, kids, dog and camping gear for a four day weekend weighed in a 2800kg at the truck scales!

A friend of mine wants me to haul cases of calendars that she made and is marketing for the holidays. I was wondering if anyone has an idea of what the maximum (safe) weight to carry in my Van would be. The first shipped was 1600 lbs, so I didn't take it all - haul (according to the skid weight) about 1,200 lbs no problem.

Thanks
