Actually, I wash them off really well with a solvent parts washer. Then I take them over to my friend's restoration shop and use his air and glass beads. Back at my shop, I just blast them off with air, they are clean enough for the JB weld. All the ones I've done so far were relatively low miles, < 110k miles, so I didn't bother to do anything about the guides or seats. Both have been good so far, one at over 50k miles now. Al Brase
