I keep a remote stater button in my rolling tool box for this sort of uneventful occasion.

Connect the starter button, remove the plug's , lay them on the block, and crank away--neat item for adjusting valves or spinning the motor over to locate TDC also.

I'd venture to say that Joy Rides Hall sensor is dust.

Over the years I've found that having a little NEON tester saves the Shock procedure for the country boys. You can make your own neon tester from two leads and a neon bulb from Radio Shack or just buy the tester from most auto parts stores. The home made tester is my preference because I make it up with long leads and It's a one man job by just tossing the test bulb over the rear seat you can see it while cranking the engine.
