There are some re-inforced sidewall tires made in the 215-70R14 size that have a large enough load rating to support the GVWR of a 2WD Vanagon. The sidewall will be marked '2-ply' construction vise the single ply sidewalls on most passenger car tires and the max inflation pressure will be 44psi.

I found that most tire dealers don't have this specific information unless they read it directly off of the sidewall, so I ended up dealing directly with the manufacturers tech support departments to find out what the sidewall ply-ratings and load ratings were for their tires..

I used Kumhos RoadVenture ST's and have put almost 50k on this set and will buy another set before I get 60k on these. They ride smoothly, handle and stop my camper very well.
