Hello All. Maybe I missed it but the flex plate for the automatic vanagon's are fastened by Allen head bolts. I do not remember the size but it was in the 10 to 12 mm range. Also in order to get the plate off you need to have a fixture to hold the plate still or you can bend the plate. It looks round tubing aprox 12" in diameter and bolts to the case with pins locating that hold the plate,

If you have the 6 sided "bolts" holding it, this is one problem and they may have not been sized correctly is a second PITA.
