As others have stated, the key can be made easily from the code number on
the lock.  It's on the tailpiece of the doorhandle.  The correct keyblank is
an ILCO X110 for an aftermarket blank.  We also stock a rubber headed blank
and the original VW logo blank, though it's doubtful you'll find either of
those anywhere else.  Don't let them try to cram an X9 in the lock...it's
not correct.  It sounds as if you just need something now to get you going,
though.  A good locksmith can do this easily.  Don't go to a key kiosk at a
hardware store, though....you need a locksmith.  Some erroneous information
was given, though.  It was said that if the ignition was different, the lock
would have to be changed.  That's simply not the case.  There should be a
code on the lock, or again, a reputable locksmith can generate a key for it.
