The 914 / 912e have a lot to do with gear boxes.
I only turn 3300 RPMS at 80+ mph in my 912e.
Remember to get the gearbox that will keep your conversion alive.
The little 914/912e aircooled engines don't have low end torque to move a
heavy vanagon.
They do however have high end torque but still only 87 HP in the 3000 to
4500 rrm range.
