If it has the original valves, they need to be adjusted to .008 in
instead of .006 in. They have sodium filled stems and grow more than the
earlier valves. The sticker and owner's manual say that.The same applies
to late 1973 engines as well. If you have the heads off you can tell if
the exhaust valves are sodium filled by a little divot
in the center of the head . This is where they are drilled and welded
after filling.
