I find it somewhat amusing what we take offense to and what we don't. I've verbally smacked the snot out of a few people after "choosing" to take offense to their replies to me. In retrospect I probably wouldn't have had such a strong reaction if it had been in person. I believe that with this one-dimensional medium too much gets lost. There is no smile or friendly intonation in the delivery... just letters on a screen. Depending on the day that can evoke a negative response. Further, I believe that our choice of words (to cuss/curse or not to cuss/curse) is purely a personal one. I could care less if every other word starts with an F, but I'm a sailor and that’s just expected. The upshot here is we have a choice get BenT about a scrap of bytes on the screen or move on along. I'm taking the latter as I don't want another rip fest like my last one (in private). Oh.. I almost forgot (grin) Vanagon, there I said it.. T'was in the content. Irreverently, Brian PS Anyone on the list have an A2 series GTI that is in great shape they want to sell me (West Coast only)? |
