This phenomena isn't limited to the stock mirrors, either.

I was tired of not being able to see as well as I'd like, so I got some mirrors off a 70's ford pickup at a boneyard. The kind that are about a foot and a half tall and bolt both above and below the window. The driver's side is perfect, always aimed correctly even when on a downhill and I can hit that rare 75.

The passenger side I have not been able to get setup properly at all. Every time I set it, something goes wrong. It loosens up and moves, the rubber under the clamp slips out, something. I finally gave up and let it be. I figure I'll tackle it this spring when I do the major overhaul of things I'm planning.
