I have just put a photo of the Trumatic E 1800 gas heater on my website:

This heater is installed in my recently purchased '88 Westy, the blue one.
Fired it up the other day and it worked perfectly. I have not camped with it yet.

Now, you can stop reading here, or go on for a few details about the installation, but
as far as I know, these heaters are unavailable in North America. The company is

The PO removed the partition between this cabinet and the water tank, and the "brain"
is mounted on the partition next to the tank. The controls and thermostat are mounted
up on the wall below the window. The inside surface of the door had to be cut away
slightly, because the unit vents through the floor and the hole is right up against
the main frame member under the van.
The PO never installed a second house battery, so the heater is set up to run off the
main battery or an external rechargeable power-pack, hence the cable with the
cigarette light plug you see in the photo. It uses 1 amp on high or .6 amp on low.

If you are wondering about the lever in place of the knob on the table support arm, it
is from some sort of machine tool, similar to what you find on a power saw. You pull
it out to re-position it. Not sure why he did it, but it does provide more leverage.
He also replaced the knob under the table.

Yes, the white box is a CO monitor, and is wired in with the heater as well.

I think the 1800 model has been discontinued, replaced by the 2400. Looks the same,
just more heat output.
