Subject: 7K Golf/Jetta Tachs- Some work, some don't ??

I've pulled probably about ten 7K tachs from Golfs and Jettas at yards to use in Subaru conversions.

I've found that some of them work and some don't...and had to pull the only working one I had out of my van to send to a customer.

I'm trying to figure out which ones are the right ones.....I haven't kept detailed records of which ones came from which cars.....I just looked in the car and if it looked right I pulled it.

When you pull the tach guts out of the plastic Vanagon/Golf/Jetta housing they all have a sticker attached to the circuit board on the back with a number.

The sticker on the back of the Vanagon 6K tach is numbered "93029-408". I have two 7K tachs that DON't work iwth the number "93029-244".

If anyone has one that works and has occassion t pull it out for any reason...(why would you) please send me the number.

Otherwise if anyones certain as to which year Gold or Jetta tachs work..please enlighten me...save me some wasted time and money at my local yard.
