Look for the engine number prefix of CV. That should be the 2000 cc / 1970 cc really, Vanagon engine. This is about the best on line source for Type IV engines in both Porsche and VW applications. http://tunacan.net/t4/index.shtml There are other differences in type IV engines that can be discussed if you have any other series than a CV.
