I seem to be stuck again, but this time it’s the Clutch Master Cylinder
replacement and loss of clutch function afterward (88 GL). I've had a leaking
cylinder for a little bit so I took advantage of the long weekend to replace
it. It seemed pretty straightforward; I pinched the hose from the reservoir
to the cylinder, disconnected the cylinder from the bracket, them took off
the two hoses. I installed the new cylinder making sure that the plunger is
in place, reconnected the hoses, attached a drain to the bleeder valve at the
slave cylinder and directed it into a jar and pumped 3 or more 12 oz.
containers of dot 4 brake fluid through the system. I them closed the bleeder
valves and tried the clutch. I get nothing! The clutch doesn't engage and I
can't enter any of the gears without grinding (only short tests). So what did
I miss? What did I overlook? I'm quite confused at this point and advice
would be greatly appreciated.
