I am now convinced that the front overhead unit is the way to go for me.

Other than extending the main hose, it should be an easy install.

I like this solution because:

a) Physics laws tell me that having the evaporator up front should be more effective than in the rear. The air has plenty of time to cool down in a 10 feet long tunnel. Worst case it should be at least as effective as the rear one.

b) More storage. I like the idea of keeping my rear storage.

c) since my poptop is a straight up model, I don't have to deal with the problem of the handle (lock) being in the way or having to be extended.

The only drawback I see is losing some headroom when you walk through the van...
