Waste of time.    If your vanagon is working properly, you will never
have a heating
problem.  I've run my vanagon in below 0 deg. temp. for hours of
driving, without
ever being cold.  Had to have the heat on constantly, but what do you
expect, at that
temperature.   Getting out of the van at a 7-11 for a cold drink without
a coat,
is a wake up.... forget the coffee.
    Your cooling system must be in good condition, to get proper heat.
