You could easily add a couple of T fittings and tap off the heater hoses running to the front of the Van anywhere to add an auxillary heater.

If you have a water cooled van.

You mentioned heat exchangers so I'm thinking that you have an early air cooled vehicle??

This would be a more difficult heat addition if the Van is air cooled.
