What you are forgetting is the comparison to stock WBX engines in Vanagons. Sure, the XT-6 has it's maximum torque at high rpms....So does the WBX. We've got one listee using a 2.7 in a Westy Syncro (heaviest of all the vanagons). He likes it just fine.
