I had a similar problem and when I would check for battery voltage at the tail light with the brake pedal depressed, I would have 12-vdc at the lamp socket, but the lights would still not come on.

Check in the black box in the upper front right corner of the engine compartment. There should be an 8-pin round connector inside that the wiring for the rear lighting passes through. I found that the connector for the brake circuit had corroded due to heat. I ended up both the pin and socket and putting some electrical contact protector on it when I re-assembled it. I haven't had any problems since.

So i swapped in new switch for bad one and guess what? Still no brake

Bulbs ok, got 12 volts at switch but none at lamp.


All I can think now is that there is a break in the line somewhere,
maybe a connector come adrift.
