If I am heading off into roads that I know are made up of a lot of sharp rock fill I always carry two spares. Used both on one trip that I had two spares with me by accident. Ripped the tire valve off of one of my front tires, and then the spare I put on got a rock cut about half mile later. Now I always carry two spares on those kind of trips. The can of liquid flat fixer is no good for those kind of damages.
