The three suggestions were for a light bulb, fan switch and something for a
Syncro. I can cross off the light bulb as they are too small and I had to
deal with replacing many of them while I had them handy. And the fans work
and their connections are slightly bigger that the one I have left over. I
put the radio back in and everything seems to be working. Oh, I forgot to
mention that the connector is white plastic and slightly longer than wide.
Any other ideas?

I'm just guessing, but it is small enough for a little bulb?  Could it be one
of the accent lights for the "climate control" system -- those handles you
slide to-and-fro in the vain attempt to make the vents somewhere in the
Vanagon do something?

Others may have more relevant info...

Good luck!  In my dash removal I managed to break the fan switch for the
defroster motor -- how ironic, eh? :-)

I had the dash off on my 88GL to replace the defroster motor and I'm now
reassembling everything. I'm now down to just the Radio and found I have 3
connectors and only 2 that go to the Radio. I recognize the 2 speaker
connections (made notes while I disassembled) but I also have a small white
connector and nowhere to put it. It has 3 contacts in it, 2 vertical and one
horizontal. So what did I miss or does it go to a type of radio I don't have?

Anybody remember this one? Thanks as always.
