The majority of your costs for an I4 conversion will be in the carrier bars, oil pan, bellhousing, etc... plus the things you have to fab (exhaust). A good running engine (RV Dgifant or even ABA) will cost you ~$600 complete, including wiring and accessories and product much better power. Somewhere on line there's a horsepower / torque chart that shows what works best.

I'd either keep the fox while doing the transplant or sell to finance. In VA, you couldn't even get $1500 for an RV Golf, much less for a Fox on the street.
