Subject: more on Woosung tires...
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" ; format="flowed"

I've added a picture of the tread to the web page with the other information on the Woosung 205/70R14C 102T tires that I got from CPI. http://homepage.mac.com/grungy/PhotoAlbum28.html

Had them mounted at Discount Tire (only $7 each) and it was a learning experience for the employees involved - they'd never worked on a Vanagon before. Had to use a floor jack - their in-the-floor lifts just don't match up with the Vanagon lift points or the frame members behind them.

Got some measurements for people to play with, comparing the best of the old Michelin MXTs (205/70R14 99S) with one of the new Woosungs. The remaining tread on the old tire is between 5mm and 6mm. The new tires appear to have 12mm of tread (this is all eyeballed, with a ruler - I don't have a tread depth thingy).

Mounted on the rear, mostly unloaded, 40psi.

wheel arch height one rotation distance

Woosung 706mm 78" (1981.2mm)

Michelin 704mm 76-7/8" (1952.6mm)

6mm x 3.14159 x 2 = 37.6mm 28.6mm difference

Pretty close in size - the Woosung's might be a fraction taller. My measurement method could have an error of about a half inch (12.7mm). --
