I've been wanting to find a syncro with a bad/damaged roof to do something similiar myself.. but i'd make it a double cab and retain the slider..

I've seen a Bay 'single cab' where they kept the sliding side door (cut in half) and it would function fine. shame this 'conversion' builder didn't retain that finctionality.. it would be kinda Corvair like.. (corvairs had a flip down side access gate)

and i've been wanting those swampers for my van.. just can't justify the $$ for a set of play/mud tires..

Anyone else see this interesting chopped Vanagon on eBay?

The bodywork actually looks pretty decent. The "full-time" 4WD due to a welded viscous coupling sounds a little scary though.

Cheers,

Jeff
