BIG negative on that one.  The fan assembly sits behind the front cross
brace structure that is also the air channel (just like an old bug where
channels are framing)  this assembly is large.
Remove the small L shaped trim piece that comes across the bottom of the
dash from the steering column to the plastic front shield in front of the
shifter.  You can now remove that piece.  The remove the glove box.  You can
now access a lot of the heater assembly.  Not enough to remove it but at
least enough to get an idea what you are looking at.
