HI All,

Yes many times. It is easiest to take the rear seat out. I take it out in section (I have found this to be the easiest) first the back #1 Philips screw driver (4 screws), then the seat 13 mm (4 bolts), then the frame with a 15/17mm can't remember (4 of them.) once out remove the cover. I use two vice grips to pinch the two hoses so I don't have to drain the system. Lots of rags to clean up the drainage. It takes about an hour. It could be just your o ring which gets really flat and hard, however of the 10-12 times I've taken them out it has never been the o ring (bummer: a simple $1.29)

My little heater core under the rear seat found in later-model Vanagons is seeping coolant. The Bentley manual has zero info on removing/installing the core/leaky valve.

As luck would have it, I have a nice replacement core lying around and want to swap them out -- anyone done it? Do I have to drain the entire cooling system? Simply put, how large of a nightmare am I looking to tackle here??!

Thanks in advance!
