Lately, the 1986 westy has been has been cantankerous in the morning, turn the key and it turns the engine over but no start. The temperatures here in Texas have dropped recently to about 30 degrees at night, 50/60 during the day. I thought it might be the chill in the air, so I waited until the afternoon to start it, same thing, all bark no bite. I am able to start it using the rolling start/pop the clutch method and it runs great for the rest of the day. I am able to start it just fine throughout the day after the initial start.

New parts in the car over the past couple of months include

* Battery, about a week old

* Alternator, about 2 months

* Starter, about 4 months

Something about that overnight rest just seems to drain the life out of the van.

I searched the mail archive for "1986 cold start" and didn't get any hits.

Any finger pointing in the right directions is appreciated.
