With the defective hose in hand, go to the biggest auto parts store you can find and ask the guy behind the counter if you can look though his stock hose rack in order to find something to substitute for the queefed out hose. Don't use the NAPA cross listings which appear on the list every so often; there are better substitutions out there. Make sure you have what you need to replace with you and don't hesitate to buy two feet of molded hose in order to get the four inches you really need. Whatever it costs, it will be dirt cheap compared to the VW part.
