Subject: Odometer starts and stops

My speedometer works fine, but my odometer does not. Sometimes it works a little, but not for very long. I took a loot inside, and foudn the gear the engages the worm gear has been drilled and a wire threaded through to keep it on the shaft. I am not sure that this is the way that it is designed... Does anyone have any ideas? I would love to get it working, and right now the speedo show says $100 - $120.

Thanks, Matt
