Someone probably modified the gear. Mine has no wire on it. I tried a fix by putting super glue on the gear shaft. It's not working too well. My tripmeter now works, but my odometer does not work.

If a new speedo with odometer and tripmeter cost about a $100, I might consider getting a new one myself. I would be interested in hearing other people's experience buying a new speedo/ odometer/tripmeter. costs and source. Also, maybe there are some cool aftermarket backlit alternatives? If I'm going to spend bucks, I don't need to keep it stock.

problem is that there are so many other problems with my van that I don't know where to start. So, the information might just be wishful thinking for me. ... sigh..
