Anyone welding the oil pumpis scarey. Sounds like they used a different oil pump and then modified it to fit the Vanagon. Why not just use the one that fits?

The 5 speed 094 is a very close relative of the late 4 speed 091/1, except that it has one more gear in the very front case forward of the reverse slider hub. Therefore, it has a larger and longer front housing.about 1-3/4" to 2" longer, about twice as long as the 4 speed, and much more cube shaped. Plus, it will say 094 on it cast in the front housing. Personally, I'd go for the turbo. Having a bit more power for certain situations doesn't mean you can't still drive it 55-63 and get really fabulous mileage, it just means you don't HAVE to all the time. And a turbo is the only way to keep the power up when you are in the mountains.
