The SA 5 cylinder Vanagons used a strange exhaust system that went from
the engine forward under the main cabin floor to a muffler and back out
the same end of that muffler to the rear of the vehicle.

Here is a link to a photo that shows the various pieces of the 5
cylinder setup, including the exhaust parts.
