I've always wondered about these inserts. I assume you're talking about the long (my memory thinks about 10 inches) inserts that would seem to serve the function of keeping the seat still by minimizing the space between the rail on the floor and the track on the seat bottom.

In wrecking yards I see some Vanagons with one of these insets per front seat. (That is the seat has two tracks, only one track has the insert. Other Vanagons have 2 per seat, meaning one on each track. All the inserts are pretty worn at the wrecking yard point.

I've wondered if some year Vanagons had two of the inserts per seat and if that makes the seat more stable? Logic dictates it would. And then would new inserts from VW--if they're still available--solve the problem. Again, logic would dictate the inserts dry, compress, and wear down over 10 or years.

My bus has only one insert per front seat.
