Subject: 130 MPH Vanagon <-- simple solution
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

It's pretty simple, either you want to make a Euro-sports van like what Raimund, Eric, Andrew, Bruce, Ben, Sudhir, Raj, me and many others ... or ya don't.

If you do, it's like anything else. Think about what your intentions are, plan thoroughly and then execute.

Any hot rodder will tell you it's a total package deal, the vehicle has to have all facets addressed to include safety. Wheels don't just arbitrarily seperate from any vehicle. Lack of maintenance and attention to detail cause failure.

Further, no one has implied in anyway that 100+ is a daily occurance :-)

So, yes it is possible to make these vans go very fast, stop very well and handle like they are a big Porsche. Is it for everyone, nope & thats Ok :-)

Bruce & fast folks, I love to hear about the things you all have done/are doing. I marvel at the engineering and appreciate the labor involved with doing things right.

To the "sky is falling crowd" ~ lighten up a bit, hearing all the teeth gnashing and hand ringing and wails of dismay is unseemly. In the end it is indeed up to the individual as to how they conduct themselves on the road. I for one am responsible and don't drive like a fool. If there are people around or near me they are my first concern and the fun can wait for the right time and place :-) When I'm alone. If I stuff it into a ditch or happened to get it airborne (vanagons don't fly too well btw, type II's are much better) it's on me and no one else.

(stepping off soap box)

Have a grand day everyone, Brian
