This choice would depend on whatever work Iīll be doing ! I donīt like to have the bus on stands if I need to get really good clearance, like when I did the engineconversion ! THe Volvoengine needs some extra space to slide in underneath so I used 12 wheels, two under each front and four under each rear wheel of the Vanagon ! I also tried to push it down before I started the work since I knew that there had to be some rocking around, getting the WBX out, moving the gearbox and lifting the I4 in place and having such a heavy vehicle on stands (on gravel :-) ) for a longer period felt unsecure I always use stands when working on the brakes and ramps when changing oil though so I think you could pick whatever you have that feels OK as long as it works along with the job youīre about to preform If you donīt have the ramps, you could make them yourself out of 2x4, 6x4 or whatever you have, then you have the chance to makeīm as high as you need too, just remember to make them wide enough so they donīt fall on their sides with you underneath Safety first !!
