The answer to your question is an easy one, but I think you are asking the
wrong question.

It is by far EASIER to put the van on ramps. Unfortunately finding a quality
set of heavy-duty ramps that will be safe to use while you are working on
the van is very difficult. Most of the ramps I have seen are stamped steel
and not properly supported, engineered, or manufactured for safe use.

It is more trouble to use a good set of quality stands. You have to spend
time jacking up the van and setting the stands. However, it is much easier
to find high quality stands that are safe to use while you are under the
van.

Remember, the cheapest solution is probably not the best. Spend what you
need to to insure that you get equipment that will be safe. Protect
yourself.
