After almost 20 years of driving vanagon passenger models, and never having taken even the first ride in a Westy, I bought a Weekender model in late July of 03. It has been in at least 2 substantial wrecks from the looks of the shoddy body work and the bent parts that are visible both from walking around it and crawling beneath it.

I was very surprised to find that I did not notice any increase in the noise level either in stop and go traffic or at highway speeds. Nothing about the poptop vibrates, rattles or the like. That is after almost 30k miles, most of which are at highway speed in and around Baltimore, but with 4 or so 500 mile round trips, and at least 20% of the miles, or at least driving time, bouncing around on the streets of Baltimore.

There are things related to the suspension that rattle, but not the poptop.

Sam
